Episode 4
You
About this episode
Welcome to episode four of the Treat Your Business podcast. Today’s episode is the fourth foundational step that we think every business owner needs to know not only know about but think about and recognise that this step is probably the most important element in the success of your business, and this episode is called YOU.
So when we’re working with clients, and we’re coaching them, the biggest challenges that always come up are:
- How do I get more clients?
- How do I manage my staff?
- How can I do less clinical work and make the same amount of money or even more money?
- How can I increase my profit levels in the business?
But often the biggest obstacle in the way is actually themselves as the business owner, YOU. So before we can go headlong into creating a great marketing strategy or giving you the ways to create a financial forecast or look at your recruitment strategy, look at your onboarding policy, look at how you have systems and processes in your business that’s going to take your business to that next level.
One of the biggest things we have to address is YOU as the business owner, so the key topics I’m covering in today’s episode are:
- You are the most important element in the success of your business
- Your business is a product of your beliefs, your thoughts and your actions.
- Living from our conscious brain vs. our subconscious brain.
- Your environment is a product of your beliefs, so if we want to change the environment we have to change our belief system.
- Being aware of your beliefs and how they hold you back.
In my next episode, we’re going to return back to the first foundational step and really look into your why.

Welcome to episode four. Now this episode is the fourth foundational step that we think every business owner needs to know not only know about but think about and recognise that this step is probably the most important element in the success of your business. And this episode is called you. So when we’re working with clients, and we’re coaching them, the biggest challenges that always come up are Casey, how do I get more clients? How do I manage my staff? How can I do less clinical work and make the same amount of money or even more money? How can I increase my profit levels in the business. But often the biggest obstacle in the way is actually themselves as the business owner, you. So before we can go headlong into creating a great marketing strategy or giving you the ways to create a financial forecast or look at your recruitment strategy. Look at your your onboarding policy, look at how you have systems and processes in your business that’s going to take your business to that next level. One of the biggest things we have to address is you as the business owner, I think it was Napoleon Hill that said Whatever a man can conceive and believe it can achieve. So every single one of your thoughts is either helping you move your business forwards, or holding your business back. And our perception of the world how we are how we run our business is rooted in our belief system. And these beliefs are things that we think to be true, that build up our subjective realities. Okay, so we’ve acquired these beliefs, through experiences as we’ve been growing up through people in authority. So often the people that you were brought up by influential people in your life quite often teachers, and accumulation of knowledge as well. So we all view things completely differently. Because we all have a different set of beliefs. So your business, what you see right now is actually a product of your beliefs. But how many of those beliefs are truly your own or have been given to you by somebody else? I ran a workshop recently, and I asked the group what their money thermostat was set up. And how that thermostat had been set at that level. What did they hear growing up? How much news did they listen to? And how much of that of that do they absorb? Because all of that influences where your money thermostat is currently set at. And when we’re trying to grow our business and uplevel our business and make more money. We have got to upgrade and up level the thermostat. So I made a decision probably about 10 years ago now to stop listening to and stop reading the news because it was having a really powerful effect on how I showed up in my business and the decisions that I made in my business and that was a crucial time when I was very new into running a business. So your business is a product of your beliefs, your thoughts, and therefore the actions that we take. So if we want to change your environment, your reality, or your business, we’ve got to first focus on us. We’ve got to focus on what you think, what you believe, and the words that are coming out of your mouth. Because you are not your thoughts, you’re just the witness of those thoughts. So this is about us trying to live consciously. And I really understand that this is so tough, Monday to Friday, when you’re on that hamster wheel, you’re on that treadmill of clients and patients coming through the door, you’re trying to deal with all the admin and the inquiries and the emails and the exercise plans and chasing the insurance companies up and everything that goes along with running your business. So we’re not often living from our conscious brain, we’re just going from A to B, and we get to a Friday, and we’ve no idea how we really got there. It’s like when you get in a car and you drive somewhere, and you arrive at your destination, and you cannot recall how you have just got there. But without spending time on you without stepping into that conscious brain, your business will not become what you want it to be. Because you will just be on autopilot based on your belief systems. So the best marketing strategy will only get you so far. And that’s one of the biggest reasons we see business owners feel like they’re really struggling in their business. It feels hard, it feels challenging, it feels like they’re stagnating, they’re hitting a ceiling, they’re not able to take that next level. And that’s often because we’ve not upgraded our belief system. So it isn’t about, I’m going to tell you to write affirmations every day, they are a very powerful thing. But we’re not going to say by writing affirmations, reading them out loud, and then thinking that your business is going to explode. But it is about saying you can’t out strategy, a faulty mindset. So affirmations are, they are really powerful things. They’re positive statements that describe what you wish to achieve. But what we actually do when we read them is is we say it like we’ve already got it, it’s already happened. And what they do is they create a belief deep into your subconscious brain, that this statement is true. And the brain actually doesn’t know what’s true or false. So it’s like writing instructions into a computer programme, to carry out the process for you. So if you do nothing else after this episode, because the future episodes are going to be include absolutely loads of strategy, and marketing advice, and processes and systems and tips and guidance and advice and things that you can go on action, those action things that we we love to do as business owners, because we can take that to do list off, we are going to have to interweave this mindset work and throw in some quantum physics in there as well. Why not? It wouldn’t be helpful. If we didn’t, there is no point listening to this podcast week on week, listen to the episodes, giving you all of the action points if we’re taking those action points from our current belief system, because your environment is a product of your beliefs. So if we want to change the environment, we have to change our belief system. So as I said, if you do nothing else after this episode, except for just take a moment to notice your current environment, and recognise that it is a direct result of your thoughts so far, and the beliefs that you have, which are generally from your past, things that you will have heard, for example, when I was growing up, I often heard the words that money doesn’t grow on trees. And that my, my parents used to say that we we work really hard to have the lifestyle that we have. I also heard, we don’t buy anything that we can’t afford. So those were my parents beliefs that were given to them by their parents. And when we actually look at this, and we look at the the history behind it and the science behind it. Our beliefs are often coming from up to seven generations back. So it’s not often your parents beliefs. It’s your parents, parents, parents, parents, parents, if you’re still following by so we we get given these beliefs as we’re growing up as vulnerable young children who take on the beliefs of our parents because we listen to people in authority. And it’s not until we get to our adult life that we stop and it’s having that moment of is that what I truly believe? Are we Is that somebody else belief that has been given to me, and that’s now running my show. So, if I had the belief of what my parents were told, which was, you don’t buy anything that you can’t afford, though, I would never have started my business. Because on paper, I couldn’t afford to do it, I would never have taken my first recruit on. Because if you if you add up all your expenses, when you start running your business, there is no point that you think I’ve got all this extra money that I’m just going to take on that next person. So being aware of your beliefs that you have got, and being aware that they might be holding you back, beans that when you’ve got that awareness of them, you can up level that belief system, and you can think well, actually is is that true? Is the belief of you to make money, you have to work hard. Is that actually true? Or can I go and look for proof that that isn’t actually true? Because there’s lots of people in this world, to us, the outsiders that don’t look like they’re working that hard, but they’re making a lot of money. So it’s like, okay, well, actually, that belief isn’t true, I, I have just been made to believe that it is true. So recognise, everything around you is a direct result of your thoughts and your beliefs from your past. And when you recognise that you have this realisation, that you have full power, to change the future, and how you want your business and your life to look. In my next episode, we’re going to return back to the first foundational step and really look into your why. So we’ve gone through the four foundational steps, the why, the who, the how, and you. And we’ve gone over those in kind of quite sort of high level sort of detail. There’s not there’s not loads of stuff that I’ve dug into that. And I’ve done that for a reason. Because I want you to see that those four foundational steps are absolutely what you need to have in place, for your business to grow to that next level for you to get that income that you that you truly want for you to have the time to do things in your life that you truly want to do. So we’re going to dig in Episode Five back into the why the why you’re running your business, why not get a normal job. We’re gonna look at who you really are, and why your business may not be serving you in terms of time, income, freedom and fulfilment. So I look forward to seeing you back in episode five.
