Treat Your Business EP83
[00:00:00] Katie Bell: Would you love to double your revenue in a year? Would you love to feel like you have more time, you’re more productive, you’re more focused, and you have elevated your confidence into a place that you feel like you can just do anything? If the answer is yes, keep listening, because I am going to be interviewing a very Gorgeous person today called Sian.
[00:00:21] Katie Bell: Sian is one of our Activate program members and she has agreed to come on the podcast and record an interview just to inspire you, to motivate you. And for those of you who are listening and resonate with Sian’s story, just for you to feel like there is a solution and that Life doesn’t have to be how it is.
[00:00:41] Katie Bell: You don’t have to be in a place where you’ve got no time in your business. You don’t have to be in a place where you’re not making the revenue and the profit and the take home income that you want. You don’t have to feel stretched and like you’re all over the shop and you’ve got no direction or no support.
[00:00:53] Katie Bell: So stay with me and listen to Sian’s story.
[00:00:56] Katie Bell: Hi, good morning. Hello,
[00:01:00] Katie Bell: thank you so much for just giving me a few minutes of your very precious time to talk about your journey with Thrive so far, Sian. For everybody listening to this, What was life and business like for you before Thrive, before we had our very first chat last November?
[00:01:19] Sian: That doesn’t feel like that.
[00:01:20] Sian: It was that long ago. Business was crazy. I had been trying to grow for a while and I was making some, making choices on my own, feeling really scared and vulnerable and was growing and it was turning into a monster. I knew where I wanted to be, but didn’t know how to get there. I’d had some coaching or I’d started thinking about coaching.
[00:01:39] Sian: I was always really reluctant to spend any money because it was just, spend less, earn more. And it was one to one and it was lovely, but it just wasn’t quite giving me what I needed. And then I saw you guys, Therapy Expo and I think I’d already heard a podcast. I can’t remember what it was on but I was listening to all sorts of physio podcasts and What you were saying really resonated with me and I felt like it something clicked that just felt like it was gonna work well So yeah, business was just crazy I wasn’t making the money that I wanted to even though the revenue of the business was Looking pretty good on paper.
[00:02:15] Sian: I wasn’t seeing that return. Life is crazy with the three kids and juggling all of that. And it was the quality of my workload was just dropping because I was trying to do too much. Yeah.
[00:02:26] Katie Bell: Yeah. And I remember when we chatted at the expo, Sian you were just like absolutely exhausted. You were like, I’m away from the kids for the day and I’m really loving this, but I am.
[00:02:35] Katie Bell: Just, it was just trying to fit everything in to no time, and you were feeling massively stretched, weren’t you?
We chatted and what was it about Thrive that clicked? What was it about us that resonated with you in particular?
[00:02:48] Sian: I did my research. Met lots of different people and I just felt, I felt that it was really personal. You really, it sounds really cheesy saying this straight to you, but you really, you genuinely cared and it was that person side.
[00:03:01] Sian: I felt like you weren’t trying to BS me because I knew what I like when you’re guiding me on what I need to do, I already know it. It’s just, I need that support and nurturing. And I felt like that was what was suiting. So everything you were saying was just like, yeah, that really resonates.
[00:03:18] Sian: I love the pink branding.
[00:03:20] Katie Bell: I was like, I want that jumper.
[00:03:22] Sian: It just felt right. Like when I decided to finally do physio as a post grad I just felt like I’d found my tribe and I felt like it fitted. This is what Thrive has felt like for me. And I wasn’t, to be really honest with you now, I wasn’t going to do it for this long, but I can’t leave now.
[00:03:38] Sian: It’s too good. I’m like, no, this is amazing. I love it. So yeah. Yeah, and then and also I think some of the other people that were selling the coaching I think one in particular was more into the social media and all your marketing and I knew that wasn’t what was going To work for my brand.
[00:03:55] Sian: I’d already done my research on Investing in social media marketing isn’t what works for me as a learning disability community with spiritual physio Yeah, so I needed to do something different
[00:04:07] Katie Bell: Great. And so we have not been working together for that long in the grand scheme of things, Sian. And then you already thought you were going to leave, but now you’re definitely not leaving.
[00:04:16] Katie Bell: What has been your biggest change so far? It’s
[00:04:20] Sian: really hard to pinpoint it to one thing because my brain’s going again. I think I’ve got more time. I still feel like I’m a bit like rushing around everywhere, but I do have more time to think clearly about my business. I’ve got a much clearer strategy.
[00:04:36] Sian: I’m much more focused on what my, actually what my values are, not floating around in my head. And I’ve got a financial strategy for the year that I can actually see it might actually get there, like I am going to get there. And that’s really exciting. So I feel just, I just, I think it’s my confidence.
[00:04:52] Sian: I just feel like I’ve got this, like I’m going to do this. I think the mindset stuff’s been huge, I think, for me.
[00:04:59] Katie Bell: Yeah, and that’s often the thing that we don’t think we need. We think we need strategy, we think we need marketing, we think we need, numbers, and we do absolutely need all of that. But what Thrive, hopefully, succeeds in doing is bringing in the mindset for the business owner.
[00:05:13] Katie Bell: You are the most important part of it, and you’ve got to be in a great place to then be able to go and implement all the strategy that we teach you. Yeah, so it’s not like you’re hand holding me, but I have to go and do it. I have to go and do the work. And it is trying to pick. There’s so much, and I was just looking this morning, there’s so much I need to do.
[00:05:31] Sian: But it’s like focusing that and having the 30 day plan and the year plan and then the seven day plan and focusing I think another massive thing which I wasn’t going to buy into Emotionally, was that the other clinic owners? I was like nah, I’m not interested in meeting other people That sounds really but you know being trying to be a bit more like personal Selfish and not give to people.
[00:05:53] Sian: But actually it’s been really good and people are really willing to share. And I’m really excited about meeting people face to face and learning from their experiences as well.
[00:06:01] Katie Bell: Yeah. And I think it’s just nice to know that like other people are experiencing the same things. You’re not on your own, you’re not doing anything wrong just because you’re not quite where you want to be yet, but it’s just that community around you of like minded individuals.
[00:06:13] Sian: Yeah, and they’re always there to cheer you on when you’ve got or had a shocking day or just being really, it’s the being really positive about it. Yeah, we roll with the bad stuff, but something good’s coming out of it.
[00:06:24] Katie Bell: Yeah. Amazing. So what does what surprised you about Thrive that perhaps you weren’t expecting?
[00:06:29] Katie Bell: Because we always come into these things with certain expectations, but what surprised you?
[00:06:34] Sian: The amount of stuff on the portal. I really like that. There’s loads of stuff I can go to when I finally do my like business strategy day. I know that I can go to the portal and follow the video and I’ve got like a guide.
[00:06:46] Sian: It’s not, I’m not reliant on you guys as individuals to be present all the time. It just, I just really enjoy like the weekly contacts. That really works. And just, yeah, building a relationship with other physios and other businesses.
[00:07:00] Katie Bell: And the weekly contact, Sian, that, we get together on a call every single week and that just, what does that do for you?
[00:07:07] Katie Bell: Is it keeping you accountable? Is it keeping you focused? Because I know often, Sian, I’m questioning you is, does that align with the growth plan, Sian? Is that what we’re really focused on? And you have that moment of, no, it’s not. I need to get rid of that and stay focused on this. Is that helpful for you?
[00:07:23] Sian: Definitely. I prioritize those in my diary. I look forward to them, even if I’m like, Oh, I’m not sure what my question is this week. There is something there. And I, even just listening to other people talking and I’m often working on my own stuff, it’s still you learn so much from what you’re saying to other people.
[00:07:40] Sian: It’s not just having that one to one. So yeah, it’s really like logging in and really switching onto that. But I can get quite a lot done in that time. I find like I’ve actually done my actions for the next week because I’ve really got my head into that hour or so.
[00:07:53] Katie Bell: Yeah, which is great. And that’s the biggest challenge for clinic owners is you’re so busy.
[00:07:57] Katie Bell: You’re often very timeful when you first start with us. It is about working through the weeds and giving you that absolute direction, focus and accountability so that you’re not distracted. And that’s what makes you feel like you’ve got more time.
[00:08:10] Sian: Yeah, definitely. It really, yeah, I really enjoy those and I need that weekly.
[00:08:18] Sian: It pushes me to have a bit of a goal every week.
[00:08:21] Katie Bell: Yeah.
[00:08:21] Sian: Otherwise I’ll just not do it.
[00:08:23] Katie Bell: Exactly. Exactly. Because willpower and it doesn’t really exist. It’s we have to have that accountability to make it happen.
[00:08:31] Sian: Yeah. And I actually don’t, I feel like it’s my own accountability. Like you guys are never pressuring me.
[00:08:37] Sian: It’s you know what I know I need.
[00:08:40] Katie Bell: Yeah, great. And Sian, so if people listen to this and resonating with your story about where you were in terms of feeling very stretched, you knew where you wanted to take it, but you just were flailing around, didn’t really know how to move forwards. And you were scared of investing and you were in that mindset at the time of spend less and earn more money, but it actually wasn’t working for you at all.
[00:09:01] Katie Bell: What would you say to somebody who feels like you did and are not sure whether Thrive is going to help them?
[00:09:06] Sian: I think you need to look at your numbers and find the money because it’s going to, it’s going to reap rewards financially. I’ve not noticed that disappearing out of my bank account. It is so worth it.
[00:09:17] Sian: And I’m looking to double my revenue this year and I can’t see that’s not going to happen. So
[00:09:23] Katie Bell: do it. That’s amazing. And just to, just to give you a little bit of recognition, Sian, I think what’s so important is we ask. Business owners to do the work. This is not, the silver bullet that’s going to give you, freedom and flexibility and all the money in the world.
[00:09:39] Katie Bell: If you don’t implement what we’re telling you to do and what you’re great at, Sian, which is why I love coaching you is because you just say, just tell me exactly what I need to do. And by the next week, you’ve made it happen. And that’s why you’re going to be able to double your revenue this year.
[00:09:54] Sian: Yeah, we’re going to do this
[00:09:55] Katie Bell: stuff.
[00:09:56] Sian: Yeah, so much has changed in the last sort of since November as well. I’ve got two new staff. I’ve just got much more management structure. I know what I’m doing as a manager. So yeah, the money’s actually good. There’s a lot more money going out. But it’s going to start like coming in as we go.
[00:10:11] Sian: So yeah.
[00:10:12] Katie Bell: You’ve got to build that infrastructure for growth. You can’t grow without that.
[00:10:17] Sian: Yeah, absolutely. So that’s where I’m at is just getting that, the foundations right. Cause they were a bit rocky and then building on top of it.
[00:10:23] Katie Bell: Amazing. Sian, thank you for spending some time and inspiring many people who are going to be listening to this.
[00:10:29] Sian: You’re welcome. Thank you for having me.
[00:10:31] Katie Bell: Oh, wow. Do you not just feel a little bit more inspired by listening to Sian? She is smashing it, can I just say. And as I said, content consumption doesn’t move the needle forward in your business. You actually have to go and take action. You have to implement it. And any coach that is telling you that they can do it for you, is a load of rubbish.
[00:10:51] Katie Bell: You have got to do the work. You’ve got to put the effort in. You’ve got to put the time in. You’ve got to make that commitment. To growing your business and transforming your life. It is totally within your reach. If you enjoyed Sian’s story, you resonated with her story, and you would like to continue this conversation and explore a little bit more about how Thrive could help you make more money, save more money.
[00:11:15] Katie Bell: And get more time back in your life and in your business, then head to the link in the show notes, grab a 30 minute call with me and we can really connect together and work out if we are the right fit for you and what we can do together if we are.
